It’s been a very slow but consistent climb. I’m at the point where I am trading using only the profits from the trades I’ve made over the past few months. I make small, conservative trades on “household names” to minimize risk as a new trader. I’m not a technical trader, definitely an amateur, swing trader. I found no discernible difference in speed of execution and have used limits ever since. Then one day I had a gross amount of slippage on an option and tried a limit order. I expected some slippage with that and thought it was an acceptable trade off. ![]() I used to sell at market and thought that would ensure a speedy trade. Sometimes I’ll hold longer if it looks like the price is still climbing. I typically wait for the moment I think the price has peaked, usually within the first 2-5 minutes of the open and close out. It’s executed within about 5 seconds, usually faster. I only close out my call orders using a limit shortly after the open, so I can’t speak for anything else. Being in a trade for 3 seconds.Ĭan I do this on TOS? Does anyone day trade like this here in this community? Its very common for me to buy a dip on super high volume on TSLA 10 seconds after market open, and sell it 3 seconds later. and I will likely have wanted to sell already.Ĭan I make 2-4 trades within 1 or 2 minutes at market open? but by that time, the price will have already moved several dollars. It just sits there like a glitch for 2 or 3 minutes, then it finally shows that I own the shares at $400. I cant cancel it, it doesnt show that I own it. However, you will be required to pay additional fees. Its still open and used for swing trades and retirement account, but moved daytrading to lightspeed. Ive got 1gig fiber, cat6 hardline and a rocket of a pc and still struggled with scalping on TOS. You can also trade with Lightspeed if you are a pro in RealTickk and Sterling Trader. TOS is great for TA and swing trades, but there are definitely better options if 'speed is crucial'. They offer you a choice of choosing one of their available platforms, including LivevolX and their Lightspeed trader. My questions is, how is TOS in the first 5 minutes of market open? I have had problems on other platforms when I will place a limit order at like $400 for TSLA within the first minute, and my order just sits there. Lightspeed is a brokerage that is perfect for high-velocity options and stock traders. ![]() I already use TOS for all of my research and charting. But the fees are insane so I am considering changing. I press the buy button and I am in instantly. I currently use Lightspeed, which is designed for instant executions. I make almost all of my money within the first 5 minutes of market open where almost all the volume and price action is. ![]()
